Background

Ann Arbor Public Schools has experienced a large growth spurt over the past several years. This year was no exception, as they expected a growth of about 600 additional students. The increase in students has caused the school some concerns as they are currently maxed out at several of their facilities.

The Solution

Ann Arbor Public Schools is a fast-growing school district with the largest growth currently in their K-5 grades. The district was in need of quickly adding space at 4 of their sites for the 2017-2018 school year. With 2 more additional buildings added to a 5th and 6th site for the 2018-2020 school year. The first 4 projects required the installation of a four-classroom building with restrooms and canopies to connect the modular buildings to the existing structure. The later 3 projects required the installation of a 6-8 classroom building with offices and restrooms. The exterior of the modular buildings is Hardie lap siding, FRP doors, vinyl windows, 60 mil EPDM roof, and bronze wall-hung HVAC units. The interior finishes are mud, tape, and paint with LED lights, 8’-6” drop ceilings, and VCT flooring.
